We have threads for WWI, WWII, the Boer War and the Spanish American War, but I thought it might be interesting to have one for other interesting memorials people run across.

The Memorial to those who gave their lives, in World War Two, who were residents of the Wind River Indian Reservation.

Considering the small population of the Reservation at the time, this number is almost shocking.

The unusual Veterans Park in Casper, Wyoming

This park is dedicated to every US war since the Civil War. It's an interesting effort, with signs that describe the state's contribution to each war. It isn't perfect, however, as the National Guarch, which had a significant role in the Punitive Expedition, WWI and WWII, is basically omitted until the Korean War. The 300th AFA, Wyoming Army National Guard, won a Presidential Unit Citation in the Korean War, and is the subject of an Army painting commemorating it, so it is covered from there on.

The list of Korean KIA has an error, in that one of the listed men did not, in fact, loose his life there. His inclusion was due to a reporting error, as he was listed as MIA in coming back late on a patrol while serving as a Marine in the Korean War. This error was later picked up again when the monument was created. The WWII and Korean War monument was originally in City Park, but was moved as City Park also included a Ten Commandments monument which drew protesters from some place. It was moved to another park nearby, and at the same time the decision to rebuild Veterans Park, which wasn't much of a park at that time, was made.

Memorial at the Colorado State Capitol to Colorado's Civil War dead.

I'm really surprised by the number of Coloradans killed in the Civil War., I wouldn't have guessed that they were anywhere near that number.

Note also that the memorial depicts a cavalryman, but he's wearing Western spurs.

World War One dead from Fremont County. The Washakie noted must be a close descendant of Chief Washakie.

From the Lawton, OK, Constitution. Anadarko is a practically ‘all-Indian’ town north of Lawton.

Plans Made To Restore Doughboy

ANADARKO Plans are moving forward to restore and remount a World War I-era doughboy statue at the Caddo County
Courthouse, but those plans remain in the initial stages, said a member of the county group tasked with completing the
project.

Dennis Freie of Caddo County Veterans Group said that members have pinpointed two outfits one in Norman and one
in New Mexico that could possibly restore the Caddo County Heroes Statue but the group has not yet solicited bids to
complete the project.

The bronze statue stood mounted in two separate locations outside the county courthouse for almost 90 years before
being disassembled and moved into the building's basement due to deterioration and vandalism.

Freie said restoration work is needed on the face, foot and hand of the old statue, and a flag which once rested in the
statue's hand needs to be reattached.

The quite politically incorrect war memorial in Santa Fe's plaza, commemorating the Indian Wars and the Civil War.
