Has anyone read Edward Coffman's The Regular Army; 1898 to 1941, or The Old Army, 1784 to 1898, by the same author?

"American Horses" by the late Ralph Moody?
I haven't read any of Moody's books, but I see where this one, which is supposed to deal with the Morgan, the Standardbred, and the Saddlebred. I have to assume that this book sat around unpublished until the recent movie Seabiscuit, as Moody had written the book "Come On Seabiscuit", which is probably enjoying renewed interest.
Anyway, has anyone picked up American Horses?

Has anybody read "The Texas Rangers And The Mexican Revolution: The Bloodiest Decade, 1910-1920" by Charles H. Harris III, Louis R. Sadler?
Pat
Pat
Possibly. Will not be able to check for a couple of weeks, however."The Texas Rangers And The Mexican Revolution: The Bloodiest Decade, 1910-1920"
The book I did read concerning the history of the Texas Rangers was excellent, but it has been years ago.

Pat-
I've read both of Coffman's works on the regular Army and I found them both to be informative and good overview of the Army as both an institution and a society. Definately a must-read first stop for anyone researching this topic (or at least desiring a good overview).

Brave Enemies by Robert Morgan?
I understand this to be a novel about Cowpens. Last year, when it was coming out, I heard some radio reviews of it which were favorable, but I haven't heard much about it since.
On that, it seemed at the time there were a bunch of novels and histories coming out about the Revolution. I'm listening to 1776, now, which is quite good. I recently listed on CD to the biography of Hamiliton which recently came out, which is also pretty good. Anyone recommend any others?

I read a promotional section, which was good enough that I plan to buy the book. Of course, like your wife, I have a personal interest in the topic...

This deals with the Navajo and Americans starting in 1846. I was considering downloading it to listing to in the truck.
