Langellier's other very fine work "Hats Off, Head Dress of the US Army 1872-1912" should also be added:

Dusan:

Yes, I have seen it, but I don't own it.

It certainly needed to be added to this list!

I have the books cited by John but don't own yet Langellier's "Hats Off". There is a less detailled study but still many pictures of headgears in "Army Blue" and "More Army Blue" by the same author.

I am wondering if "Hats Off" included the various campaign hats : Models 1872, 1876, 1883, 1889, &c ?

Hi Eric,
Yes, the campaign hats are included in "Hats Off. . .". The book is a fine companion volume to the others by Langellier on John's list.

Thanks Dusan,

I will consider purchasing it.
The quality of Schiffer's is remarkable, but they're quite pricey.
