Are there any books on Soviet Cavalry?

Reviews and commentary on books, films, etc.

Pat-
I have recently aquired two books on WWII Soviet cavalry, specifically the 1937 Cavalry Regulations and a 1939 edition of "The Military Horse," a book which defines the various horses of the USSR by area and by type, including their suitability for various kinds of military service. As both books are in Russian and my college days are far behind me, I have only tackled the chapter headings from the second book at this time. Eventually I hope to get to the translation of the regulations, but I am first attempting to translate the hand-to-hand combat manual from the same period. This promises to be a loooonnggg project.

There is a very good reference on the WWII Soviet Cavalry by Charles Sharp. It is one volume of his 12-vol Soviet Order of Battle for WWII. This lists information on various organizations, and some history on most of the divisions and corps.

If I find more possibilities, I will be sure to let you know.

Thanks!

I wish that one of these outfits that does short synopsis books on military organizations, such as Osprey, would do one.
