I havent much info on the AEF Vet Corps, but the Australian and British Vet Corps treated approx 2.5m horses in WW1. The Corps were formed after the disgraceful treatment and deaths of so many horses in the Boer War.

Aborigine too Sam, the AWM are compiling a history of aborigines in WW1 service. I am sure that only regts of the 5th ALH went to France ( with the Otago MR from NZ).

From April 1918 the Regt Mixte de Marche de Cavalarie (FR), which composed of Spahis and Chasseurs d'afrique, fought in Palestine under BRGEN MacArthur-Onslow, 5 Australian Lighthorse Brigade.
They replaced the 1/1 Warwick Yeomanry, sent back to France to exploit the last 100 days of the war.

It truly is a cracker of a book! Should be taught in our schools as part of the history syllabus. I know of a couple of the characters mentioned.
