off the topic but if you want background knowledge into the history of this place then buy, beg, borrow or steal David Loyn's book, 'In Afghanistan' ( two hundred years of British, Russian and American occupation.
The Times said,'---it should be slipped into Barack Obamas christmas stocking'.
Loyn worked for the BBC, and has spent years in the country as a foreign reporter and travelled with the taliban when they took Kabul in 1996, and again a decade later.
l thought l knew the history and it's lessons---nope.
