Jerry Greene has a new book published by Savas Beatie called Indian War Veterans. It is a compilation of veteran's accounts as published in "Winners of the West" years ago. Over half the narratives are related to the wars on the northern plains. Jerry gives a history of Indian Wars veterans associations. Color photos of association medals and some period images of veterans I have not seen before.
