Sword Identification

The following photographs come to us by way of a query on the id of the sword depicted in them. The basic information is as follows:
What it is, a neighbour of mine - Canadian - has a sword which belonged to her father. She has no other idea about it.

I have attached some photos. Can you help identify it at all?

What I can make out is that it is George V, and thus dates from 1920 to 1935 time.
Any other info you can give would be welcome. My knowledge of swords runs to them having a sharp edge

To me, it looks like a George V Era, British or other Common Wealth 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword:

I have one similar to this (without the George V) that was captured from a former Iraqi Baathist Officer in Muhmudiah, Iraq.
