Re: Electronic devices

While I still haven't gone for any one of these "electronic books", if you would like to be able to store thousands of your favorite photos, high fidelity recordings of music & feature length movies in a small pocketable VCR that can be used anywhere, with stereo earbuds, or played back on your tv ...

Re: All The Pretty Horses

For me the main character in "All the Pretty Horses" had a wonderful " never say die" atitude & a fine sense of honor & decency! Refreshing to find such basic old fashioned qualities in a contemorary movie. It came off as a really worthwhile moral movie! An unusual story too. Well acted & filmed ...

Hi Jim: If you run a search on "Google", you should find some forums with fellows discussing "hacking" DVD players to make them "Code Free" & even kill Macrovision copy-guard protection! Since virtually all DVD players are made in China & sold world-wide, the manufacturer's secret code has to be ...

Yes! They are all fun & extremely well done, so well worth owning copies on DVD & watching them. I think the title was "Daredevils of the Desert", in itself a great story! Grant.

Pat: Simon Wincer directed several of these, & in the one about the Australian Light Horse, he reused the entire climactic charge from his 1987 "The Lighthorsemen"! Catherine Zeta-Jones plays a spy! Long before her marriage to Michael Douglas! It also seemed to borrow a bit from "40,000 Horsemen ...

Further to Brian Garfield's book, please take a look at www.briangarfield.net/events.htm for several excellent reviews of "The Meinertzhagen Mystery". The same address, but with "works.htm" substituted for "events" leads you to Brian's movies & other books. Grant.

My initial order for a soft cover copy of Brian Garfield's book went astray! Sent to a wrong box number. However I have now sent in for a hardcover copy & hope soon to be able to report on the book. Grant.

Pat: I'm pretty sure someplace I Do have a VHS copy of the 1946 "The Overlanders". But where? A lot of stuff is stashed away in piled up cartons & there's no listings handy. My library has one, which might be for hearing impaired? I could try that. Currently I'm bedevilled by what may be arthritis ...

My order has gone in for the softcover edition of "The Meinertzhagen Mysteries", so hopefully very soon I may be able to say something about it! There is a sizeable excerpt from it on the publisher's website incidentally. It sounds excellent.Grant.

Famous Polish director Wajda's horse epic .

Greetings all: "LOTNA" is now out on DVD & not to be missed. This is Wajda's famous rare movie about a white mare given to the head of a last Uhlan cavalry regiment about to face German tanks in WWII. Each officer rides her & she is handed down as they are killed off. At the end sadly her leg is ...
