The "Daylight Gun", U.S. Model of 1909 Benet-Mercie Machine Rifle by Bruce N. Canfield, Sept 2010 American Rifleman.
The current issue of the American Rifleman has an interesting short article on the Benet-Mercie. I really know very little about it, and it was an interesting introductory article for somebody such as myself. A couple of the things included in the article surprised me. For one, I didn't realize that so few had been produced for the US, only about 600. And I was surprised by how heavy it was, 30 lbs.
The source of breakages and stoppages was also discussed in the article, which was interesting. And, in usual American Rifleman style, a selection of interesting photographs was included.
