hi all...
It's been forever since I've posted. I'm trying to figure out the age and origin of this bit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've not seen a mouth like it has on another bit (though I'm sure they're around. Definitely and ODD one.
And the bosses/medallions are definitely unlike any I've ever seen.

This bit definitely "feels" military, and European, to me. Artillery-ish.

It's tough (for me, anyway) to say for sure what's depicted on the bosses but I'm pretty sure there are two wheeled artillery pieces (3 and 6 o'clock) with what appear to be helmets atop each.

The head of a battle axe (?) is at about 5 o'clock and an anchor (of all things!) is at about 7 o'clock. What may be a drum or a lantern is at 6 o'clock.

The heads of 3 pikes/spears appear at around 1-2 o'clock and 10-11 o'clock. I'm not sure what to make of the figure (?) at the top of the boss...maybe a depiction of a soldier in a helmet?

Your guesses or input are welcomed. Feel free to share the image with any other experts you may know. I'd LOVE to solve the mystery of this bit! Thanks, in advance, for any help you might give.
