A few years ago we had a thread on US sidearms (it's still around in the archive section). I posted a photo of a saber I have, and some information about it.

A little while later, I was contacted by a Society member about that piece. I can't remember who it was, and I can no longer find the emails we exchanged. Whoever it was has published books on edged weapons, I think, and wanted photos of my saber for research for a book he was working on.

To whomever it was, please contact me again. I'd like to know if there are any updates to your research and/or publication, and if my saber proved interesting enough to be included.

Hi Frank,
The Society member you exchanged emails with was me. I am working on a study of arms and accoutrements of the US mounted service 1833-1865. Your sabre photos are included in my text and will hopefully be used in the work and credited to you. My editor has the final say on photographs so member JP may be in contact if anything needs changing or further photos required. I have found quite a bit of interesting information concerning imported sabres which may interest you .There is a significant amount of material to examine for this work, and whilst research is progressing, it all takes rather longer than we might wish!

Thank you for your kind help and interest in the work.

Dusan,
Thanks for touching base with me. I had almost forgotten about all this, but was reminded when I had a few things out for cleaning. I couldn't find the emails we exchanged, and could not recall the details.

I certainly look forward to the publication. If you or your publisher need any further photos, I'll be more than happy to supply them.
Best regards,
Frank

Hi Frank,
Thank you.
I'm a bit late responding because I have been unable to log in for several days. Seems OK now though.
Best,
Dušan
