I'd like to know the difference between the 1859 McClellan stirrup straps and buckles and the 1904 stirrup straps and buckles. I believe one of the differences is the 1859 leather is black and the 1904 is russet but I'm more interested in the buckles and if there different. I just got a set of straps that were supposed to be 1850 and I'm told that there 1904 I'm trying to find out what makes this set 1904 straps.

Thanks

Will need to have more of the strap near the buckle end to have better idea what you have, exactly.

The short version is this - McClellan stirrup straps had iron buckles from 1859 through 1910 or so. Those appear to be bronze with oxide finish, which were post-1910.
