Please help ID this saddle. Best I can tell is it is a half-seat slick fork. Tree is not raw hide wrapped. IT Has US on the hooded stirrups and the cantle has two phoenixes with Celtic looking stamping surrounding them. Any help is appreciated . Thank You!

The saddle is an old A fork stock saddle with no military connection. The stirrups are McClellan stirrups that a prior owner put on for one reason or another, which was not uncommon.

Absent finding a makers mark on the saddle, it will be extremely difficult to identify. Based on the rigging, it's certainly an older saddle and a person could hazard a guess from there as to its age, but it would just be a guess.
