Three Mysterious Canadian Military Saddles? Two UPs.

I board my horse at a stable that is almost 100 years old; the owner's grandfather was a member of the Canadian Cavalry. Found these three saddles rotting away in the corner of my tack room. Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I can inspire them to protect these saddles from further damage. The two on the end appear to be some sort of UP design and the middle is marked Walsall and has 4 billet straps. Age? Value? Anything? Thanks for reading.

The two on the ends appear to be drivers' saddles. The other is from the English saddle - making centre of walsall but does not appear military. All seem to be in good condition considering their age. More photos of the rigging and undersides would help.

Hi: The best of your saddles is the Barnsby, which I think is probably civilian, although the company also made military saddles. It appears to be in excellent condition and probably useable if those girth billet straps are safe. Interestingly, it has four billets as in a present-day dressage saddle, but lacks the deeper dressage seat, whereas a modern English has three billets. Age is hard to judge. The two UPs, probably from the WW1 era, are in need of help, but there is enough there to work with if you want to tackle a restoration.

Larry, do you have any idea how much the Barnsby would be worth? The billets seem to be in very good condition.

Sadly not much. There is an old Barnsby saddle on e-bay today for $67 . The two UPs should be worth more, although not much more because of their condition
