20th Century Battlefields

Postby Pat Holscher » Sat Apr 03, 2010 7:22 am

Has anyone seen this on the Military Channel? I've caught two episodes, partially, one being on the Falklands War, and the other being on a British offensive in 1918. I only caught part of that, but I was surprised by all the good cavalry footage it had. Some really good stuff. I noticed that the British Pathe clip that is mislabeled as American cavalry showed up in that, and in the big tv version, they're clearly British troops.

On the same channel there's a show about "Hitler's Bodyguards". It's sort of misnamed, as it's really about Hitler's rise and plots against him. Anyhow, in the brief part of that which I saw the other day it had some excellent film clips of mounted German troops during WWII, artillery, transport, and cavalry.

There's a Military Channel in the US? Or is it a segment of the History Channel? History Channel ussually satisfies my belicose viewing needs. You can always try to look up TV shows in the Internet. That way I've seen entire seasons of shows that don't air in Chile. Do you know what company produced this show?

Thanks Tom.
I'll have to check the Web page for the Discovery Network in Spanish. Is it the same thing as the Discovery Channel? I don't recive my cable provider's programming magazine. You actually have to pay for it, it's not included with the suscription. I didn't pay for it on principle. Now I'm always caught off guard when something good's on, or programming changes.
We do get a lot of military stuff on US cable channels. Military history looks big on cable and on bookstores, as opposed to Universities, that tend to ignore it, with some notable exceptions.
