Last patrol,287th MP Horse Platoon

This is the last patrol of the 287th Horse Platoon

This is kind of like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted given my recent experience but i live in hope.

Is the dismounted soldier in a great coat French? The rifle looks like the period French rifle.

a closer look at the uniforms of the last non ceremonial horse unit of the US army

the 287th was adescended from a cavalry recon troop (mechanised) being the 78th Cavalry recon troop of the 78th Infantry Division
