Off to London

Postby TL Foster » Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:05 pm

My wife and I will be in London for the Olympics and have a good bit of time to find our way into other trouble, so suggestions are most welcome. :D Three days of dressage and 2 of eventing. If anyone could come up with 2 tickets for the cross country portion of the 3 day event we would be most grateful, otherwise... Top of my list was the House Cavalry Museum, but… It’s hosting the beach volleyball venue. Can’t blame them. All those hard bodies right out the rear windows. We’ll be staying in Farnbough, so there is a good bit of latitude about where we can go on the days (7) we’re not at a venue. Right now I’m not planning on renting a car, so use of mass transit and moderate use of LCPM’s (leather covered people movers) is the current plan. Museums and anything equestrian top the list, but everything on the table. And when all else fails, there is always pub crawling. So thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hi TL
Hope you'll have a great time. A friend of mine applied for Equestrian tickets without success until her boss, who'd applied for Athletics, received...tickets for the showjumping(!)

You might find this of interest while you're there http://cavalrytales.wordpress.com/2012/04/21/warhorse-fact-and-fiction/

Thanks for the link Jonathan. The National Army Museum looks like it have a lot to offer. As for tickets, the cross country venue sold out in the first offering back last May. If there was another offering I missed it. :(
Cheers
