Military Collector & Historian is always good, but this issue is really fascinating. The Company of Military Historian journal for Fall 08 includes articles all sorts of items of interest, including:

1. Ashort article with photos on Pvt. Josepah Corsillo, a volunteer in WWI who first served in the cavalry, and then the artillery. The story of one soldiers service, including cavalry service, was quite interesting.

2. A plate on pre WWI Canadian Western Cavalry. We've discussed Canadian militia units here a bit, so the plate helps fill in some details.

3. A menu from the 94th Aero Squadron's Thanksgiving dinner in 1918.

4. The notes of a Continental Army trial of a "tory".

5. An article on French military illustrator Eugene Leliepvre, who is 100 years old.

6. Will Gorenfeld's article on the Battle of Santa Cruz de Rosales, which I've already mentioned.

7. A really facinating article on Cpt. Herman Bottcher. Apparently Cpt. Bottcher was well known at the time, but I've never heard of him (Elanor Roosevelt requested to meeting him while visiting troops in Australia). Bottcher was a veteran of the Spanish Civil War, where he'd served the Republicans as an officer, and it seems fairly clear that the German born officer was a Communist. Interesting look at an unusual story. He was killed in action on Leyte.
