Off Topic: The Coldest Winter. Opinions?

Postby Pat Holscher » Fri Oct 19, 2007 9:05 am

Does anyone have any opinions on "The Coldest Winter: America and the Korean War by David Halberstam"? I saw it in the bookstore the other day, and it looked interesting. Indeed, as I had some traveling to do, I almost bought the CD version (but bought "Mayflower" instead).

I'd buy it, but I"m leery of David Halberstam after reading Unheralded Victory, which directly addresses Halberstam's pre 1965 reporting in the Vietnam War, and really finds him wanting. Has anyone read this new book?
