Hi Todd

I bought a copy of this book when first published, I refer to it from time to time but less these days. It is okay and worth adding if it can be found around the lower price range. Basically there is a short intro to each chapter, for example a page on military saddles then a page on McClellan saddles followed by some examples along with a brief description.
I have listed the contents below along with page numbers to give an idea to the size of each chapter.

The Horse and its Equipment in America 1
Civilian Saddles 13
US Military saddles 31
Confederate saddles 63
Bits, Bridles and Rosettes 81
Breast straps and breast plates 121
Saddle bags, valises holsters and blankets 129
Stirrups 137
The Manuals 145
Tools 153
The Catalogs 159
Miscellaneous 167
Special supplement:
The fighting man and His Mount 173
Bibliography 191
Index 193

Kurt.
