Pretty remarkable amateur film from 1939. All military, showing many vehicles in use just before WWII. Some horse shots about half way through.

Another film by the same camara man, who was a New York NG officer. Lots of great vehicle and a few pretty good artillery shots in this one:

By the way, some of the trucks in here look like Model As. I wasn't aware the military had ever used Model As.

Note also the whitewalls. Strange to see that on a military truck.

The guns are 75mm Field Gun, M1897A4. The trucks pulling the guns may be 1 1/2-ton Chevrolets.

I think I see the Chevrolets but there seem to be some Model A type trucks that show up too.

Also, note how new those Dodge 4x4 trucks are in these photos. Weird to think that this model depicted here pre-war would already have a replacement by the time the Army saw action a few years later.

Also note. . .no Jeeps. They weren't in the inventory yet. Even in WWII vintage movies, like They Were Expendable, they often show up in error. But in actuality, they weren't really around until the war had been on for awhile.
