Re: B/4th Cavalry
Ft. Robinson is a long ways from Omaha. I wonder if it might be Rapid City South Dakota? Crawford Nebraska is the closest town to Ft. Robinson, but it's just a town. Pat

Re: B/4th CavalryThis is a little bit of a stretch, but as I read this post and was studying the picture, I looked at the sign on the building on the right, I extrapolated the word "aquil .." on the sign to "Aquila", a word I've heard, did a search and found the Aquila Court hotel in Omaha, with a picture that looks like our building here.

Re: B/4th Cavalry
Wow. I wonder what the point of such a march was given that the equine lessons learned would obviously not be employed, given as they were turning their horses in? There must be some good newspaper accounts of this from Nebraska. I wonder if any of them are online? Pat

Re: B/4th CavalryWhat an epic ride, particularly in the winter. I'd love to read more about it.

Re: B/4th CavalryIf I'm not terribly mistaken, 4/B is currently posted at Ft. Huachuca; it's an IW-era ceremonial unit that makes appearances at re-enactments and the like. I see them every year at the Picacho Peak ACW event, where they provide a cavalry component to the "battles."

Re: B/4th CavalryThis was taken during the Army Day Parade 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. Shortly after this the 4th went to Fort Robinson conducted its last mounted review before turning in their horses.
