Re: The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt

I'm lucky enough to have an original 1876 Winchester 45-75, ser.no.2XX. I've hunted with it but never got a shot at anything. The rifling is pretty far gone but otherwise safe and reliable to shoot. One of these seasons before I get to old to carry it I'd like to get a nice deer or elk with it.

Re: The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt

I have been engrossed in this book. Does anyone know what firearms he was using in his 1883 & 1884 hunts on the Dakota Badlands? Was it the 1876 Winchester 45-75?

Anyway this movie I thought was pretty good and well done in parts. Of course there was carbine scabbards and even some 1904 McClellan saddle painte...

Interesting. The 9th was here in New Mexico at Ft.Bayard just east of Silver City. There is a battle site nearby to my place locally known as "Beyer's Run". The canyon within the Black Range is now named that. Cpt. Beyer(s) was CO. In May 1879 they got in a fight with Apaches led by Victor...
