1/6 Scale Ringgold saddle

20221129_145625.jpg It has been a while since I posted here. Some of you have seen my other models in the past but this is my first Ringgold saddle. 20221129_145119.jpg 20221129_145119.jpg There's an 1842 percussion pistol in the holster and an 1840 hall carbine suspended just like the Napoleonic F...

Re: 1885 Nosebag

Thank you Todd for finding that. Great reference. As you say its possible the 85 bags w/o the leather vent lingered all the way up to 1904 as well as some units implemented the new order after 92. Thanks again.

Re: 1885 Nosebag

NICE! The proportions are visually perfect on that saddle - I’ve never seen that level of work in miniatures before. I believe 1885 was earliest printed reg describing leather ventilator. It may have been in limited use before that, in some form or other, but I’ll let more knowledgeable p...

Does anyone know or have regs ref. for when they started adding the leather vent to the 85 nosebag?

Re: 1912 U.S. Service saddle Punitive Expedition

This is my punitive expedition rider I put together for this saddle and my customer. You can see the the 1903 rifle upright in its bucket secured thru the leather donut attached to the cartridge belt. I believe the troopers didn't like this new contraption and stopped using it altogether. Belt, susp...

Re: 1912 U.S. Service saddle Punitive Expedition

Really excellent work, the detail is splendid. Only a small suggestion: perhaps all edges could be slicked as in the original? Otherwise exceptionally fine work, very well done. Thanks for the suggestion Trooper. If you mean by slicked, with an edging, this is goatskin leather so it doesn't take it...

Thank you George and Chris for photos and reference but special thanks goes to Kurt Hughes for much needed dwgs and photos to help complete this historical saddl...

Re: 1912 Service saddle

Yea sort of. My seamstress is going out of town this sat. And I wanted her to make the bags, too complicated for me this time.

Re: 1912 Service saddle

Hi Kurt, I tried the guild but was unsuccessful!
Do you have dwgs for the pommel bags and for the c-ration bags? If so could I get a copy of it please?
I have everything else I need, unless you have a dwg for the rifle boot? Otherwise I'm good on the rest.
Thanks

1912 Service saddle

Is anyone aware or have quartermaster drawings for the 1912 trooper pommel bags and c-ration bags?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you

1912 Officers Experimental saddle

Hi guys, I'm interested in making a 1912 Punitive officers saddle. But I'm a little confused. There's a website I've used in the past, The Military Memorial Museum. http://www.militarymemorialmuseum.org/army_cavalry.asp There's a saddle there described as the 1912 officers experimental during the Pu...

Re: WW1 1902 British UP saddle miniature

Thank you Everyone for the nice compliments. That is incredible. The level of detail is amazing. I know virtually nothing about the fabrication of miniature tack so excuse my questions if they seem rather elementary. Did you make the entire tree from scratch? The micro stitching is fantastic. Is it ...

WW1 1902 British UP saddle miniature

This is my latest saddle creation in 1/6 scale. Thanks to my good friend John Morgan and all his UP knowledge this saddle would not have been possible.
